Who can catch the biggest fish?

A fun game to cure boredom in a flash. And it is really easy to make at the same time! Even the youngest little fishers can set up their own little underwater world with some fascinating creatures and then show off their skills.

Material:

  • photo paper, various colours
  • brass fasteners
  • Pritt adhesive tape
  • Pritt Magic Stick
  • 2-4 wooden sticks
  • string
  • elastic bands
  • 2-4 magnets
  • large box without lid

Tools:

  • pencil
  • scissors
  • hole punch

For parents/adults:

The magnets used here are magnetic necklace fastenings. You can find them in the beads and accessories section of the craft store.

Instructions:

Step 1

You need a lot of fish and other sea creatures for this game.  You need at least 20 so that it is great fun to play. Draw the fish on craft paper: fat, thin, large, small, triangular, round - let your imagination run free. Starfish, shellfish and an octopus are also must-haves. How about an old shoe and a treasure chest?

Draw all of the figures and objects on the craft paper and cut them out.

Step 2

Then give each sea dweller an eye. Punch a hole through the head and place the brass fastener through. Fold the fastener out on the other side and secure it with a strip of adhesive tape.

Don't forget to fix a brass fastener to the old shoe and the treasure chest as well, otherwise you won't be able to catch them.

Step 3

Then decorate the fish with scales. To make the scales, cut out lots of small circles from the coloured paper. A coin is a good template.

Draw around the outline and then cut it out.

Then stick them on the fish so they overlap.

Step 4

Attach the fishing line to the rod with an elastic band. Wrap it around tightly so that the string cannot come loose.

Then tie the magnets to the other end of the string.

Place all of the fish and sea creatures in the box and let the fishing begin! Whoever catches most fish or the treasure chest is the winner.

Tips and tricks:

You can make shimmering fish with glitter pens. Simply draw patterns on the fish and let the glue dry.
