Would you like to know how to make a space station just out of paper? Then you're in exactly the right place!
In this craft project we make a space station together that you can add to as you wish. And there is a lot happening in your space station: the astronauts go in and out, explore the planets around them and search for alien life. And look: they have actually found a few extra terrestrials! Should they try and communicate with them or would it be better for them to return to the safety of the space station? You decide, because you are the boss on your space adventure!

Step 1

First, cut out all parts of the satellite along the solid lines.

Step 2

Your space station is made up of various parts: gangways and structures. To make the gangways, fold the templates along the dotted lines and apply Pritt glue to the marked areas. Then stick everything together to make a triangle.

Step 3

Make cuts along the solid lines on the template for the structures.

Step 4

Then fold the templates along all of the dotted lines and apply a generous amount of glue to the tabs. Then slide the grey triangles over the tabs where you made the cuts. It is best to start with the triangle in the middle.

Step 5

Now you can put the gangways (with the windowless sides facing downwards) and the structures together to make a space station.

Step 6

The flags are next up. Fold them along the dotted line and apply a generous amount of Pritt  glue on them.
Then glue them each around a toothpick so that the toothpick makes a flagpole and the design can be seen on both sides.

Step 7

Carefully stick your flags into your space station structures.

Step 8

Now you know how to make a space station. But how can you bring it to life? That's right, with a few astronauts! To make the astronauts, fold the templates down the middle and fold the coloured blocks inwards. The figures are now triangular. Stick the two bottom tabs together using Pritt  glue so that the astronauts can stand up.

Step 9

Do the same with the aliens and start your exciting space adventure!

And that's it!

Now that you know how to make a space station, why not build a huge explorer station with as many gangways and structures as you like? And why not take a look at our other craft projects and find out how to make a rocket to fly to your space station!

Tipps & Tricks

To make the different parts more stable, you can stick them onto a thin card or an empty cornflakes box before cutting them out. Then they will stand up really well.
