Being a vampire has to be learned - and where better for that than in vampire school? In this project we will show you how you can create your own vampire school within an ancient building. Here young vampires learn everything that is important for vampire life. There is even a hidden basement behind a secret door. What might be hidden behind it? Also discover the other monsters and witches who hang out in the vampire school, cast spells and practice flying on broomsticks!
For your Vampire School papercraft, first cut out parts 1a and 1b along the solid lines. Apply a generous amount of glue to the back of 1a and stick it to the back side of 1b. Then, fold the tabs inwards along the dotted lines. This will become the left wall of the lower floor.
Proceed the same way with parts 2a and 2b. This will become the right wall of the 1st floor. In addition, cut along the solid line of the door, but only to the solid line, don't cut the the dotted line! Then, cut out parts 3a and 3b, 4a and 4b, 5a and 5b, and 6a and 6b for the balustrade. Stick each a and b part together with Pritt glue and fold the tabs here as well.
Next are parts 7a and 7b. Stick both parts together as marked. This will become the back wall and the left wall of the 1st floor of the Vampire School. Carefully pierce the drawn solid lines with a pair of scissors. Slowly cut along the solid lines. Along the dotted lines you can open the window outwards.
Now stick together parts 8a and 8b to build the partition wall, behind which the secret room of your Vampire School papercraft is hidden. Proceed the same way for parts 9a and 9b (right wall of secret room), 10a and 10b, and 11a and 11b (outer balustrade). Also stick parts 12a and 12b (back side of the lower floor). Then carefully cut into the solid line of the door on the side of 12a - this way you can open and close it to leave the secret room. fold the tabs inwards along the dotted lines.
Next for the floor slabs of all floors. Cut out parts 13 (floor of lower floor), 14 (floor of 1st floor) and 15 (upper floor) and stick them each onto a piece of cardboard to make them more stable.
Now assemble the Vampire School papercraft! Start at the bottom: Stick the left and right wall to the back wall. Then fix the floor to it.
Exciting - a secret door! For this, first cut out parts 16 and 17. You fold the book shelf (part 16) along all dotted lines and apply Pritt glue to the tabs. Fold part 17 in the middle (with printed side on the inside). Then fix the book shelf with the tabs to the back of the wooden wall of part 17. Apply a sufficient amount of glue to the other side of 17 and stick it to the finished partition wall (part 8b).
Now you stick the partition wall with the stuck on secret path to the lower floor of the Vampire School papercraft.
Then the floor of the 1st floor is stuck on top of the walls: For this apply a generous amount of glue to the top tabs of the wall and press it carefully to the floor to fix it.
To build the first floor, connect both wall parts (part 2 and 7) and stick the wall to the floor. Also stick the upper floor (part 15) on top of the walls. Now it's time for the balustrades of the balcony. Stick them on using the tabs as shown on the picture.
For the tower, you fold the tower (part 18) along the dotted lines and stick it together. The spikes should stick out at the bottom. For the roof of the tower, fold the roof into the shape of cone and fix it. Finally, apply glue to the spikes of the tower and fix it on top of the Vampire School. Put the roof on top of it and the tower is complete!
For the broom cupboard, cut out part 20, fold it along all dotted lines and apply a sufficient amount of glue to the tabs. Fold the cupboard from it as shown on the picture and stick it with the backside to the Vampire School papercraft.
Now for the torches (parts 21 and 22): Apply a generous amount of Pritt glue to the entire backside, stick each of the parts together and fix the torches with the outer pieces to the wall of the Vampire School.
To craft the table, fold part 23 along the dotted lines and stick this part together to a rectangular body. Fix the table top (part 24) to the tabs lying on top. For the chest of drawers, you fold part 25 at the marked parts and stick a chest of drawers together from it. Fix it with both of the back tabs to the wall in the top left room.
For the balcony, cut out part 26 and apply glue to the tabs. Fix the tabs to the walls underneath the windows to create a balcony.
You now quickly craft two brooms: Apply glue to the cut out parts 27a and b, and 28a and b, put a toothpick (broomstick) each in between and stick the broom together. It's best to cut off the end of the toothpick so it won't disturb while playing.
The students of the Vampire School are parts 29 to 35 on your template. Cut them out, fold them each in the middle and stick both bottom tabs together with Pritt glue so they stand solid. For the figures to ride the brooms, carefully pierce the marked holes in characters 29 and 32 with the toothpicks. You can also use a hole punch to do this. Now you can sit them onto a broom!
To hoist a flag in your Vampire School papercraft, cut out templates 36 to 39, put them each around a wooden stick and stick together both sides. To hoist the flag on your school, take a bit of play dough and stick a flag of your choosing into it. Put it on the upper part of the Vampire School and you're done!
And that's it!
There is a lot going on in your Vampire School papercraft - little vampires are hiding in the secret basement to scare people, and funny young witches are practicing flying on a broomstick. Which other stories can you come up with? Maybe your vampires make an excursion to the Werewolf Forest? Drop by and take a look how you can craft ghostly 3-dimensional trees and scary monster spiders. Have fun!
